Small world phenomenon

Ma resztvettem egy nagyon erdekes, inkabb gondolatebreszto, mint a temat reszleteiben ismerteto eloadason a halozatokrol. A halozatok itt eleg tag ertelemben ertendoek, mindazokra a rendszerekre utal, ahol ket vagy tobb elem kapcsolodik egymassal es ezek viszonyat, rendszeret egyszoval kapcsolatat terkepezzuk fel. Ilyen halozat peldaul az internet, egy taplaleklanc, az idegrendszer, egy fertozo - leggyakrabban a STD betegsegek kapcsan emlegetett - betegseg okozta jarvany.
Persze erdekesek a tarsadalmi halozatok - social networks -, a biologia renszereken belul a genetikara specializalodott halozatok is...

Kulonosen nagy meglepetes volt, amikor a referenciakent kiemelt konyvek kozott - kb. harom ilyen referencia konyv kerult szoba - egy igen ismeros magyar nevet talaltam: Albert-Laszlo Barabasi. A nev azert volt ismeros, mert az USA-ba vezeto utamon egy magyar, az egyik Chicago-i egyetemen oktato fiatalemberrel ismerkedtem meg, aki a Chicago-i repteren nagyon szimpatikusan segitett megtalalni a csatlakozasomat, huzni a borondjeim es bucsuzaskor odaadta a nevjegykartyajat, veszhelyzetre... Azt ugyan emlitette, hogy fizikus es halozatokkal foglalkozik, de nekem ez valahogy ebben a pillanatban valt vilagossa, miszerint ez a ket ember - a Network analizis egyik nemzetkozileg kiemelt professzora, az un. scale-free network egyik nagy felfedezoje es a nekem kedvesen segito ferfi azonosak. A halozati analizis beszel a small world fenomenonrol, en egy uj aspektusaban tapasztaltam meg ezt, kicsi a vilag. The concept gave rise to the famous phrase six degrees of separation after a 1967 small world experiment by psychologist Stanley Milgram which found that two random US citizens were connected by an average of six acquaintances."

"The college game Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon, inspired by the film Six Degrees of Separation, merely requires a group of players to connect any film actor to Kevin Bacon as quickly as possible and in as few links as possible (see Small World Phenomenon).
